Sam and Esther: A representation of our world today

A world out there outside of our imagination but within the reality of our present time today. This post isĀ  a call back to the things that are most important. For some people a meal a day is a luxury. Wake up every body, this is the 21st century, a world that is glowing with all the riches and wealth that is gotten from Oil, natural gas, technological inventions, sports and entertainment and other revenues. Is the above video an equal to all the “good” things of the 21st century? Sad enough hunger and poverty can be seen in its glorious form especially in the two thirds of the world where most of the resources are found.

I get a bit angry when I hear the west talk about the environment like it is the essence of why we live. For those that are pro-environment please go to Nigeria (Niger delta area) where the oil is drilled by most of the western companies and maybe you would have a different cause to pursue than just the environment. The environment is loudly talked about by those who are not hungry or have good drinking water that is accessible within 2-5 meters and are not exposed to harsh weather conditions because they live in a house. I think we should have some sort of guilt in us looking at the world that we have helped to create consciously and unconsciously.

An English proverb says, “a hungry man is an angry man“. How true is this? Anger, hate, disunity, war, genocides and chaos could be a result of people not satisfied with how much they get to EAT.

How can we bring hope to our world today? Maybe we should stop to think that only our governments have an answer, or our church, youth group. Maybe it is time to start to think about what you have to contribute to bringing hope and faith to the hungry and underpriviledged.
